Open to established and emerging artists and writers who are residents of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or British Columbia. Please follow the guidelines carefully, as incomplete submissions will not be considered.
No reading/submission fees.
As an indie publication that is free to read and contains no advertisements, we are unable to pay for contributions.
We do not accept simultaneous submissions but we have a short turnaround time.
We accept previously published work.
By agreeing to publication, each contributor grants Subjectiv the right to publish their work in the online issue, in promotions for the journal, and in our archive of past issues. All contributors retain full rights to their work.
Type “Journal Submission” in the subject line of your email . Include a brief cover letter with your full name, website or Instagram if applicable, and a third-person bio of up to 100 words.
Poetry:
We are looking for writing that evokes an emotional response, challenges expectations, intrigues us, or draws us in.
Send three to five poems.
Maximum of 30 lines each.
Attach each poem as a separate .docx (MS Word) file.
Fiction and Creative Nonfiction:
We are looking for writing that evokes an emotional response, challenges expectations, intrigues us, or draws us in.
Send three to five pieces.
Combined total word count maximum of 2000 words.
Attach each piece as a separate .docx (MS Word) file.
Visual Art:
We are looking for art that demonstrates confident technique and a strong, consistent voice.
We do not accept work that uses familiar characters/celebrities like Darth Vader, Marilyn Monroe, etc.
Send five images that are 300 dpi and at least 1200 pixels on the longest side. File names should include the title or partial title of the work.
Each image needs to be cropped to show only the artwork.
Images with watermarks will not be accepted.
Include an artist statement of up to 150 words about the work.
Include a list with the full title and the medium for each piece.
